Discover your gifts & personality

The world doesn’t need perfection; it needs your offering.
Gifts grow restless when buried; they bloom when given away.
The song inside you was written with other hearts in mind.
Someone once said: identity comes before assignment.
Before you can figure out what you're meant to do, you have to know who you are. That means getting honest about what you actually value — and asking God to show you a purpose bigger than yourself.
Here's the thing: purpose has a way of becoming your identity over time.
If you're young, that's actually good news. You have time to explore, discover your gifts, and pay attention to the moments that feel like a nudge — a mission dropping into your lap that you didn't quite ask for.
That nudge? That's God saying he trusts you with it.

Through a process we don’t fully understand, our father places each of us where we would have an opportunity to progress, influence others, and serve him. He placed you here because you have a mission to perform. We are here now because we are needed here now. -Russell M. Nelson
A person who is alive in their gifts is not competing with God, they are collaborating with Him. -Jennifer Finlayson-Fife
You don't have to write the code behind your gifts because God and you partnered together before this earth and signed a deal to flare them. Some of the desires in your heart are a hint to what you are gifted at. Earth is our specialized time of growth where we forge our character, habits, and beliefs in the face of adversity, while discovering our purpose. You may not realize it, but you knew this before you came to earth.

You chose to come here. You knew it would be hard — and you came anyway. Even with the veil of forgetfulness over everything you once knew, some part of you understood the reward was worth it. The resources you need are there, even when you can't see them yet.
Yet is a powerful word.
You may not be fully walking in your gifts yet — but you can get there. We're all just finding our way back to God, trying to leave the world a little better than we found it. None of us have it figured out. Life isn't as black and white as it seemed when you were little, and that's okay. Part of being here is navigating through polarities which we talk a lot about here.
One fun tool for discovering your strengths is called Human Design. It can reveal your gifts in a way that actually makes sense — especially when you're young and still figuring things out. But here's the warning that comes with it: don't let it put you in a box. Tools like this are meant to be a starting point, not a ceiling. Your strengths and weaknesses are more connected than you think — knowing one helps you understand the other. And God sees your weaknesses very differently than the world does.
The world says, "you are who you are." God says, "you can be so much more."
You have eternity. Don't cross anything off the list just yet.

Where this gift-finding tool can show up as helpful for you is that you can narrow your focus and do not need to be good at 100 other things during your short time on earth. If you are not feeling desire towards anything in the moment, than these gift finder tools can help you learn where you have been conditioned to believe something about yourself that maybe is not true. Remember, time is on your side; earth is a short speck of time in your existence as an ever-living intelligence, with opportunity at every turn for progress to divinity. Every child possesses an inner genius, with unique gifts bestowed by God to bless this world.
The world would tell you that only those with high IQs are gifted, but that is a false narrative that somehow caused a frenzy because of the way our governments set up schools, and schools were designed for people with only certain types of gifts. But there are thousands of ways to multiply and replenish the Earth with our gifts, and we often get narrow-minded in our public school systems. All gifts hold equal value and are necessary. Hollywood often leads people to believe that certain gifts are more praiseworthy than others. One of the harder temptations in life is to demand a lot of attention from others. The best gifts are humble, like the gift of meekness, quietly hidden, yet still powerful. The meek shall inherit the earth — but the meek in that passage doesn't mean weak. It means those who have weapons and know how to use them, but choose to keep them sheathed, as Jordan Peterson often puts it. The gifts of meekness, humility, teachability, faith, and hope are powerful gifts to pray for that carry you beyond this life.
When you start comparing, you risk losing your gifts. When you start focusing on winning, you open the door to worrying about losing. The proud depend on the world to tell them whether they have value or not. If you depend on God to tell you whether you have value or not, you won't care what others think. The greatest talent is having a spiritual connection with God, as if He is your "best friend". Let him tell you how wonderful you are.
Sometimes, we can really hone in on what lights us up, impacting our families and communities in beautiful ways. What we don't realize is that even the gifts that aren't measurable, are often the most potent and useful to society. It's particularly crucial to keep in mind that the more you receive on earth, the greater your responsibility to use it for the benefit of humanity and all life on Earth. Gifts are fun because they can expand, and multiply, and replenish the Earth, even if they start as small offerings. Remember, you don't need a stage for most talents. As Jenkin Lloyd Jones says:
"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. Most puts don't drop. Most beef is tough. Most children grow up to be just people. Most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration. Most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is like an old-time rail journey...delays, side-tracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."
You see...all those people who have "average" jobs, they are quietly sharing their gifts with their families, neighbors, and communities. Most people are quietly building this planet in critical ways that even they don't understand. Every bee in the hive counts for making delicious, raw honey.

The best gifts we can seek after are less noticeable than others: The gift of gratitude, the gift of charity, the gift of compassion, and the gift of faith. But then we all have these unique little nuanced personality gifts that build the web of life around us. And those are fun to multiply and grow as we presence Earth.
The strength of the team is each individual member.-Phil Jackson
Every gift is important, as stated by Paul, one of the apostles of Christ. God gives everyone different gifts — wisdom, healing, faith, creativity, leadership — but they all come from the same source, for the same reason: to help each other. Think of it like a body. Your eye doesn't do what your hand does. Your foot doesn't do what your ear does. But try getting through a single day without all of them. Nobody gets to say "I don't belong" — and nobody gets to say "I don't need you." The parts that seem the weakest? Often the most essential. The ones that go unnoticed? God gives them extra honor. When one part hurts, the whole body feels it. When one part wins, everyone celebrates. That's the point. You're not meant to do everything — you're meant to do your thing, so the whole body works.
You are part of something bigger than yourself. And the body needs exactly what you've got.

The more we learn about God, the more we understand that he placed desires inside your hearts, to show you the blue-print of what you are here to go and do and build. You have to look internally, at your desires, your passions, and the things that light you up. The following tool that I offer, you may never need if you follow your heart. You can access your gifts deep within you by just looking inside. There is, however, one outside tool that can be fun to try. This tool has really helped me, and so I offer it to you. I would like to share our personal experience with Human Design:

As one who has read quite a few books on understanding our gifts, I was pleasantly surprised to try one very unique gift-finding tool. Similar to the Enneagram personality test, which is also fun but only useful if used as an adult. I was skeptical about believing Human Design, but I considered it a fun experiment nonetheless, and was absolutely shocked at how much it held true in our family. This tool is a really interesting recipe of a bunch of ancient sciences combined in one. None of it can be considered a measurable science, however, oddly they align with many modern discoveries. It is enjoyable because it weaves together ideas that have been present on Earth for thousands of years. It integrates the I Ching, a Chinese philosophical system, Kabbalah, a Jewish spiritual tradition, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra model from ancient India where yoga originated, and quantum physics all to offer a distinctive map of an individual's unique composition. It is useful for reflection, but not measurable in labs. It does incorporate your birth location through the stars, which many believe astrology can be overused or misused and many times it is. But I once heard an explanation of why it's acceptable to include a bit of astrology in discovering your personality. When Jesus was born, a large and bright new star appeared in Bethlehem!

Perhaps the stars do share a story in the sky that aligns with us individually. Did you know that there are times when you can look at the names of the stars, look at the symbols of the stars, check major dates in history, and see that the event aligns and matches perfectly with the names of the stars? Signs in the heaven are real. Modern technology allows us to see the star alignments, the names, and go back to any event in history and see where the stars were on that day, and what their names are. God is always in the details. The following tool I share does include a little astrology, but it also includes other really unique sciences discovered over thousands of years, all combined into one unique holistic approach. But if that is not enough proven "science" for you, than I invite you to just look at my own personal experience with it. I like to think God points us in directions, and the little hints around us collaborate together to tell a story.
Human Design uses a combination of things to share a pattern for you to see in yourself, but it requires some personal information including your birth location and exact time. I finally found my exact birth time by calling the hospital I was born in, and tried it out on myself. Many can find theirs on their birth certificate. I plugged it in the app, and was baffled at how true it sounded when describing all the nuances of little old me. But it wasn't until I tried it not only on myself, but also on my parents, my kids, my husband, my friends, their kids, and many others, that I realized how accurate it can be! I was actually flabbergasted with the findings being consistent across the board! It helped me understand how to articulate myself and how I see things, and how to look inside and cultivate my gifts. Let me remind you, this is where you don't put yourself in a box! Some people who use gift-finder tools tend to do that. I would say, let it guide you to seeing how to share your gifts, more than just discover them, because we are told in the scriptures that we can "seek out, and even pray for the best gifts". (At the bottom of this classroom is a video that can help explain the theory behind all of it if you want.)
My mother is the most kind-hearted human I know. It said her top gift was generosity of spirit. I can not tell you how true this is of my mother. Every time I call her, she is serving someone. My oldest son makes friends easily, and he tends to gather people. His top gift is influential energy. My oldest daughter and my husband were born on the same day and I have always thought they were alot alike in personality. Their charts are not identical but strikingly similar, and their energies and gifts are parallell! One unique insight was that my youngest daughter's best way of digesting information (and food) according to her chart is with "high sound," which is also what my chart says. I can tell you that I do prefer audio for learning and we both like to listen to things when eating too. :) Every single person in my family digests information differently. Listening to a podcast or youtube is sometimes easier for me than reading a book. Which is why I hope you are reading this out loud with your families! Human Design is incredibly unique and enjoyable to explore. While I can't prove the exact science behind it, I'm amazed at how accurately it resonates with my loved ones and me! I think everyone in our family enjoyed learning from this. I have done this with family friends, and I have watched grown men cry in front of me as I described their strongest gifts. I think people are looking for ways to articulate their thoughts and make sense of themselves. If nothing else this tool may help you do that.
The tool for discovering your gifts is called....Human Design. The best way to get a hold of this tool is a certain app that our family enjoys by Jenna Zoe, a Human Design specialist. It is called "Align." This is what it looks like:

Once you get the app, you will need your exact birth time, your location of your birth, and your birthdate. If you don't see the time on your birth certificate, you can call the hospital. Being an hour off from mom's guess might be acceptable. However, the chart can change if the time is off by a few hours. Therefore, try to avoid guessing. It is kind of fun that these are the only three things you need, so even younger kids can enjoy it.
The app excels at highlighting the various gifts you might discover within yourself, such as personality traits, methods for processing information, and much more. If you want expansion on what any of it means, I recommend you go on your AI agent and type in: "explain gift 18 (or whatever gift you have) from human design," and AI does a great job at giving you more explanation. Your life theme is not what you do as a job, but it weaves into everything you do in your life.
The first thing it tells you is your energy type: It tells you if you are a generator or projector or other; this is your engine of energy. The chart will help explain it to you. I learned that for me, when I get fatigue, it is a depletion somewhere. It comes from "the shoulds" that I make up for myself, from compliance to things that are not serving me. An example of that is feeling like I needed to fit the mold of public school. I find I fit the mold of being a homeschool mom much better. If there is anything I am doing that I can get rid of, the energy and the zest of life gets back up. When there is agency involved in my decisions, and I get excited about something in my gut, my engine is lit up; I become a machine that can't stop working on it. This chart won't tell you what lights you up like your heart can, but it will tell you how your body responds when it is lit up with excitement about something, and how you process information, which surprisingly, has been true with my kids!
You can even discover what the "arrows" mean in the chart. There are arrows on the sides of the human design image that is generated for each person:

Those four arrows each tell you something specific about how your brain works:
Top left → how you take in information
Top right → how you see the world
Bottom left → how you use energy
Bottom right → how you make decisions
If an arrow points left, you tend to lean toward structure — routines, logic, step-by-step thinking, and focused environments.
If an arrow points right, you tend to lean toward flexibility — big-picture thinking, intuition, variety, and going with the flow.
So if your top left arrow is pointed left, your brain likes structure. You learn best with routines, clear steps, and a quiet or focused environment. Your mind works like a "laser" straight and direct.
So if your top left arrow is pointed right, your brain is more relaxed and flexible. You learn best in loose, comfortable environements with fewer rules. Your mind works like a camera, soaking up the big picture without trying too hard.
So if your top right arrow is pointed left, your perspective is more detail-oriented. You notice patters, numbers, tiny differences, and things other people miss. You're naturally good at spotting what is off or what needs fixing.
So if your top right arrow is pointed right, you see the world more broadly. You notice vibes, moods, and overall direction instead of small details. You're better at seeing possibilities than nit-picking specifics.
So if your bottom left arrow is pointed left, you focus better with schedules, organized spaces, and predictable routines. You like knowing what is happening and when.
So if your bottom left arrow is pointed right, you do best when you can change things up. Moving, shifting environments, trying new approaches. Too much routine can feel boring and suffocating.
So if your bottom right arrow is pointed left, you do well with planning, structure, and thinking things through. Your brain likes logic and step-by-step decision-making. You're naturally more strategic.
So if your bottom right arrow is pointed right, your decisions work best when they are relaxed and intuitive. You don't need a plan; you sense what feels correct in the moment. You're more "go with the flow" than "make a checklist."
Each arrow is a small clue about your natural rhythm. Together, they start to paint a picture of how you specifically think, learn, and move through the world.
The app does a much better job walking you through your individual results and all of your gifts — so try it out. Test it on your friends and family. See what rings true. Have fun with it.
Just don't take it too seriously — and don't let it put you in a box.
No two fingerprints are the same. Neither are you. These tools are simply a starting point for understanding your natural gifts — not a final answer on who you are or who you can become.
Scripture invites us to seek the best gifts — things like faith, patience, charity, and gratitude. Pray for those too. God has a way of turning your weaknesses into strengths — and occasionally reminding you that your strengths can humble you just as fast.
You are uniquely wired. Own it, develop it, and leave the world better for it.
Here is a little science behind Human Design in visual form:
In this video, I share a message by Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple. I do not know his flaws, or his values, nor do I know if I agree with everything he said or did while he was alive, but I do like that he knew how to follow his intuition on his gifts that he had to share with the world. He knew how to see the things that light him up inside. I can't say his values align perfectly with mine because I don't know him personally, yet I respect what he has created. This is a great video for facing the unknown as you develop your gifts:
Here is a fun video for kids on why they should be grateful for their unique gifts:
We must remember that we are all different, we are each genius in something, and we each have a purpose.

This classroom goes along well with conquering your fears which you can explore in this classroom here. We hope you visit more classrooms here!
